There has been a compete overhaul of the CDM regulations, for example, there is no longer a CDM Co-ordinator and for EVERY PROJECT, whether domestic or commercial, a Construction Phase Plan must be prepared, regardless of the size or scale of the works being undertaken; furthermore, if there is more than one Contractor on the project, a Principal Contractor must be appointed even on domestic works, the contractor's kit is an essential tool for all contractors. The Designer's CDM Compliance Kit has been specifically designed to assist designers to produce quality meaningful CDM documentation, whilst also gaining a thorough understanding of the requirements placed upon them under the revised CDM 2015 Regulations. CDM 2015 states that ‘The client has one of the biggest influences over the way a project is run', clients therefore effectively set the tone for the project and have overall control as it is the client who is funding the project. However, given that around 50% of all successful prosecutions under CDM have been against Clients, it is apparent that many Clients are unclear of their role and duties under the Regulations.
