SGS and Transparency-One are helping retailers and brands seeking transparency and traceability in their supply chains to improve data security through blockchain services. SGS Transparency One HOW DOES BLOCKCHAIN WORK IN TRANSPARENCY-ONE? While supply chain data is collected and verified in the Transparency-One platform, the blockchain chain link icon appears in black. When the data is ready to be added to the blockchain, it can be pushed to go live by the farmer, supplier, brand, retailer, etc. Once live, the chain link icon will turn green. If further changes are made to the data, the chain link turns red to indicate that additional verification is required. Transparency-One customers have the option to add an additional layer of security to their data by storing critical supply chain information in the blockchain. The use of blockchain heightens the security of the data stored in Transparency-One by creating a ledger of all transactions between supply chain partners, and making it immutable. DATA INTEGRITY Blockchain technology provides a record of all supply chain changes, but additional measures are required to guarantee data accuracy. Transparency-One's partnership with SGS provides validation services to ensure the quality, integrity, and security of supply chain data. SGS verifies some key information entered into the platform, including supplier certifications, which are verified by an SGS team and tagged. Once data is verified and tagged, it can no longer be changed and any subsequent updates are stored as additional transactions in the blockchain, providing full traceability.
