Welcome to the enchanting world of the North Pole, where magic, wonder and festive preparations come to life! As Christmas gets ever closer, Santa Claus and his team of elves are gearing up for another joyous Christmas Eve journey.
So for a bit of light-hearted fun, let’s imagine what kind of signage Santa might need for the North Pole and his Lapland village. Join us on a journey to discover the creative and imaginative signs that play a vital role in Santa’s meticulous planning, ensuring a seamless and magical experience for the man in the red suit.
Totem Signs
A totem sign is essentially a large, stand-alone sign that provides brand awareness and location information. When it comes to the North Pole, that big candy-cane pole could be put to much better use as a totem sign! With a few little tweaks, Santa could have a totem sign that shows everyone approaching his Lapland home where they are, and who lives there. He could even use a few of them to help visitors find their way around.
A Wayfinding Sign
There’s a lot going on at the North Pole. After all, it isn’t just Santa who lives there! You’ve got his workshop, his offices, the stables for Reindeer and the Elf headquarters, not to mention the village and its amenities. It’s easy for visitors to get lost there! Some wayfinding signs in bright colours with bold arrows could be just what Santa needs to help people find their way around the North Pole.
‘Elf And Safety
Of course it wouldn’t be the North Pole without the famous workshop, where all of the elves are busy building (or buying) toys for children around the world. As a workplace, Santa has to comply with certain regulations around health and safety, which means he needs some signs to warn his elves and any visitors of hazards there might be. That could be anything from needing to wear eye protection around certain tools, to being careful around explosive materials, warnings about industrial vehicles (forklifts and cherry pickers to help the elves reach high places) and emergency exit and first aid signs. We’ve written a more in-depth blog about health and safety signs that Santa can read here, so he knows exactly what he needs to display in the workshop.
Reindeer Care Instructions
Santa’s 9 reindeer need care all year round, which means he needs a team of elves on hand to look after them. A set of reindeer care posters in the stables will make sure any new elves understand what they need to do, and serve as a useful reminder to any seasoned elves who might skip steps or forget important safety precautions. Instructional signs can come in a wide variety of sizes, shapes and materials, so Santa can custom-order signs that will stand up to the dirt, debris and muck that come with reindeer stables!
Reserved Parking
That sleigh isn’t small, so Santa needs somewhere he can park it during the year, and when he’s loading up the gifts on Christmas Eve. ‘Reserved for Santa’ signs can be placed all around the North Pole, so that Santa always has somewhere safe to leave his sleigh without damaging other cars or running out of room. He would also need signs reserving space for his reindeer to rest and recharge – can’t forget them can we!
Wrap Up The Sleigh
Maybe Santa doesn’t want his sleigh to look the same every year. After all we all like a change, don’t we? Using vehicle wrapping, he could wrap the entire sleigh with any colour or pattern he wanted. He could make it look like a giant present, a candy cane or with lots of classic Christmassy motifs so it stands out in the night sky. He could even get a personalised ‘SNTA CLAUS’ license plate to make him instantly recognisable and add to the magic.
That’s it from Signwrite Studios this year! We hope you’ve enjoyed a little festive fun to wrap up the year, and that you enjoy the festive break however you celebrate. We’re already planning some amazing things for 2024, so stay tuned!
