North Street Arcade Project

Approved contractors turned to Soprema for their single ply product, technical knowledge and customer service, to deliver a multi-disciplinary solution for a residential refurbishment in Hampshire.

The Project

The North Street Arcade refurbishment in Havant, Hampshire, presented a complex roofing challenge. The building, which had been derelict for years, was redeveloped by south coast property consultants, Holloway Iliffe & Mitchell.

Havant is a historic market town with excellent transport links to London and the M27. The town centre has experienced significant regeneration in recent years, including the refurbishment of the old Market Parade to provide residential apartments, shops and restaurants. This new development has been very much welcomed by local residents and businesses alike.

Soprema and specialist contractors, Mariner Projects, successfully completed 650 sq. m. of new build and roof refurbishment areas. The diversity of the project included pitched and curved slate roofs, dormers, parapets and various detail work.

A Multi-Disciplinary Approach

Working closely with Tom Mariner, Company Director at Mariner Projects, Soprema developed a specification of high-quality products to meet the criteria of the build; which saw mechanically fixed single-ply membrane, insulation, and various detailing materials installed.

Soprema’s in-house technical skills were invaluable to the project during the design and specification stages, as well as post-installation inspections. The knowledgeable team was able to offer guidance from initial design stages, through to sign-off.

This project presented complex roofing details, such as PVC parapet upstands and outlets, brickwork abutments and dormers. Soprema’s product range, including Flag PVC single ply membrane, along with their technical expertise, addressed these complexities. This ensured minimum downtime as the project did not have to wait for multiple suppliers, which also kept costs to a minimum.
