The basic design of a Huck LockBolt is quite simple, consisting of two main parts. The pin is one part of the LockBolt. The pin (bolt) is inserted into one side of the material being used that will become fastened with another. Access to both sides of the joint is required for installation. The other part of the LockBolt is the collar. The collar is inserted over the bolt from the opposite side it was inserted into. A LockBolt tool is typically used to tighten the pin head toward the collar and surface of the material, while the anvil pushes the collar against the joint joining the two materials. The tool swages the collar, increasing the strength of the clamp on the materials. Finally, the pintail is broken off giving a clean edge.
