Peripheral Modules For Range Of Texture Analysers
In response to requests from both University and commercial research departments, Stable Micro Systems have developed a method of measuring the acoustic energy release during a physical test. The acoustic system has high sensitivity to the frequencies emitted by brittle products but has low sensitivity to mechanical noise emitted by the Texture Analyser. The system contains all the necessary components for connection to a TA.XTplus Texture Analyser, which will generate synchronised force, and sound profiles for individual tests to provide the "4th dimension in texture analysis". Some Texture Analysis tests either occur very quickly or there are transient events during the test that are easily missed. Such characteristics are either due to the brittle nature of the product or to the test protocol, such as the rapid probe withdrawal during an adhesive 'tack' test. Due to the speed of events, visually the test features may almost be missed and, therefore, video capture of the test that allows for replay will almost certainly be of interest. This is even more relevant when the captured video information can be played-back in frame synchronisation with the cursor movement of the force/time texture analysis recording. By using the Resistance Conversion Unit in conjunction with the TA.XTplus Texture Analyser's multi - channel data acquisition capability enables the characterisation of Electro-mechanical products by measuring and analysing the force - distance and resistance - distance characteristics co-incidentally.
