Summer in the kitchen with Sugatsune
25-07-2017
Time was when entertaining in your garden would mean charred sausages and warm sangria. No more, the outdoor kitchen is transforming the way we share food and fun with our guests. Combining all of the benefits of a fully fitted kitchen with sunshine and butterflies it has become the latest must have in any upmarket development. Our friends at Gaze Burvill, who build and install beautiful handmade kitchens to withstand the British climate tell us they have seen a tremendous uplift in their business in recent years.
Building a kitchen which is exposed to the elements means that solid timbers such as oak, teak and redwood are preferred. The fittings have to be weather proof too, which is where Sugatsune comes in. Not just a supplier to the KBB market, Sugatsune manufactures for the industrial and marine markets too so many products can cope easily with the English country garden.
Drawer slides will have to be made from stainless steel, not so much of an ask you may think. But if you want a soft-closing slide made from stainless steel it's going to have to be Sugatsune. The ESR-4670 is fully stainless and has soft close close features to bring the refinement of a top-end kitchen to the exterior space.
The HES3D-120 seen below is a miniature architectural hinge which is adjustable on three axes and is about as good as it gets for furniture hinges. It can be fitted to doors as slim as 29mm and is sturdily constructed from corrosion resistant metals. It is part of a range of adjustable concealed hinges for doors up to 125kgs and as thin as 19mm all with the same multi-link concept.
The standard concealed hinge is familiar to us all but Sugatsune constructs them from stainless steel making them popular in yachts. Everything you'd expect in a concealed hinge with added corrosion resistance.
You might like doors with knobs on but many these days prefer the look of a flush design. Push to open latches achieve this look and a long throw design like the MLC-HT130 is ideal for the job. It is made of rust-free high performance plastics, no magnets and stainless steel springs making it the number one choice for exterior use.
It's worth thumbing through the Sugatsune catalogue to see what else might catch the eye. For example this JF-T100 stainless steel hook not only looks fetching in mirror finish but has a torque braked side to side motion so when installed at hip height you can bump into it and it will just fold aside. Perfect for teacloths and aprons or barbecue forks and tongs.
