Displaying products in a way that seduces the buyer is at the very heart of retail. The contemporary shopping experience is all about letting the public handle the goods, once in hand they may not want to put it back. If the items are delicate or valuable this may not be a good plan and glass display cases may work better. With good lighting the products can be seen to best advantage and being behind glass seems to add to their desirability.
The glass cabinets will require hinges and possibly locks - smart and understated is the vogue, like the GS-G range from Sugatsune. Simple rectilinear forms in gleaming chrome or gold support the doors with the lock keeping the look. Fitting is easy too as the GS-G hinges have a temporary holding feature to keep the door in place whilst adjustments and final tightening of hex keys takes place. And once installed they can be adjusted horizontally by up to 2.5mm.
Finding locks and hinges with the same design is easier said than done and Sugatsune makes a particular point of providing locks that fit with their other hardware. The GS-GL5 lock has a modern high security dimple "Million Key" giving more key changes than you'll ever need and can be shared across other Million Key installations. A master key system can also be supplied if required.
Managing locks across a large site can be complex so RFID proximity locks are becoming more widely used. Sugatsune’s Excelock provides a system with great flexibility, pass holders can be assigned different levels of access over a range of cabinets and de-assigned swiftly as required. A pass card is used to unlock cabinets, locking is automatic when the pass holder moves away. There is always a log of events so that specific users can be identified.
Along with purpose built glass door hinges Sugatsune also has ways of adapting hinges more commonly used with wood or composite doors. The popular HES3D range of architectural hinges for instance has a glass bracket available now for the HES3D-90 giving the full three way adjustability and smooth movement for a glass door. The J95 concealed hinge, which looks like a standard concealed hinge but is actually a lot bigger also comes in a glass door version.
The J95 is a winner as it uses a familiar format to deliver a uniquely rugged solution. A 40kg glass door can be supported with just three of these hinges making them perfect for full height display cabinets whilst smaller 25kg doors only need two hinges.
Sugatsune carries several ranges of glass showcase hardware so if If you'd like to know more about these or any of Sugatsune's products give the friendly customer services team a ring on 01189 272 955
