The Coretex Group launches unique Polypropylene Honeycomb Core

The Coretex Group, a leading supplier of Honeycomb Cores and Lightweight Structural Panels, are pleased to announce the launch of their new Polypropylene Honeycomb Core range. Geoff Layland, Managing Director, commented, ”We have seen the growth in the use of our aluminium honeycomb cores in many types of lightweight structural panel designs – however the benefit of the our PP Honeycomb core range is that it can be used with most traditional laminating lines where timber or foam cores are currently used and a lighter weight and more structural solution is required. The PP core surface comes with a polyester tissue thermally fused to surface that makes it very easy to bond to with automatic or manual glue processes and the PP film under the tissue limits the adhesive or resin that is needed and stops any potential filling of the cells. This also makes it an ideal core for RTM/Resin Infusion type and GRP moulded parts where a significant amount of the core component can be replaced with our lightweight high strength PP Honeycomb - saving on resin, fabric, labour – and weight. We already have clients looking at substantial weight and cost savings for resin and concrete cast projects” He further stated, “Other key features we can offer are, apart from a 1200mm x 2500mm standard stock panel, we can provide panels at ANY length – so long as they can be transported! This has been a great help on projects where 4000+mm panels are needed with no joints – which can limit structural integrity. We can also offer thicknesses down to 3.5mm which is very unique – as the cell diameter is also 3mm so the thin sheet has excellent load compression characteristics for thin laminate panels and vacuum moulded items” PP Honeycomb is also an excellent energy absorber for more damage tolerant panels and a natural vibration damper – and being PP, it is thermoformable and virtually maintenance free. Panel manufacturers and composite designers now have a great new core product to enhance their designs and product performance.
