Major project for Winchester Cathedral

Stannah win prestigious contract to install a lift in Winchester Cathedral Stannah's Major Projects team is always ready for an engineering challenge - and this is no exception. They have secured the contract to install a 10 person all-glass passenger lift into Winchester Cathedral. The lift installation within the South Transept will provide access over three floors in an ambitious exhibition area housing previously unseen treasures. The lift shaft is required to travel through a 5m thick vaulted ceiling and the direct-acting hydraulic drive will require a 9m bore hole. The view from within the lift promises to be spectacular and unique in the history of this early 11th Century Grade 1 listed ancient monument.
