Hooray! In just 8 days Stannah installed a Maxilift 2.0, 8-person, motor room-less (MRL) passenger lift in the new YO! Sushi restaurant on Princes Street in Edinburgh, Scotland.
Stannah secured the contract based on the ability to customize, install and commission the 8 person lift to meet the challenging timescale of this newest outlet of YO! Sushi, an international, award-winning brand renowned for serving sushi and other Japanese dishes using the ‘kaiten’ conveyor belt, or ‘sushi-go-round’.
“The Maxilift 2.0 has made access faster, more comfortable and convenient between the ground-floor entrance and our 1st-floor, 65-cover restaurant,” comments YO! Sushi manager, Colin Tinniswood. “The lift helps us welcome YO! Sushi new and regular customers of all mobility levels, including wheelchair-users, to our fun, fast and fresh Japanese dining experience providing them fantastic first floor views overlooking the heart of Edinburgh, including the city’s famous castle.”
The Maxilift 2.0 passenger lift was specified by David Ford, Director of Ford Associates Chartered Quantity Surveyors: “This was a fast-track project completed on budget and to a tight deadline, and to our client’s total satisfaction. We use Stannah lift products on a consistent basis because they are reliable in their manufacture and installation, often going the extra mile, as this project shows. We have an excellent working relationship with Stannah and will happily specify their lift products for future projects.”
Due to building constraints the 2 stop passenger lift was delivered with reduced guides and a split ram, this is an ideal option where on-site installation access is limited, typically in an existing building. The Maxilift’s motor room-less capability allows for the machine room to be located remotely, making the lift economical in its immediate space requirement, and aesthetically streamlined.
The 2 panel, side-opening landing doors are finished in durable satin stainless steel, decorated with vinyl graphics on the exterior, at both levels. The lift car interior is finished in silver grey vinyl skin plate with a silver, half-height mirror to one side, handrail, and non-slip PVC ‘black sparkle’ flooring creating a lift that complements the restaurant aesthetic and YO! Sushi brand.
Installing, owning and operating a Stannah Maxilift 2.0 MRL passenger lift helps the YO! Sushi owners meet the requirements of the Equality Act 2010, with the added reassurance of continued lift maintenance by the Scotland branch of Stannah Lift Services, part of a nationwide network providing comprehensive lift servicing and support.
