Striebig Optimised
18-12-2018
The Swiss vertical panel saw specialist, Striebig isn’t new to optimisation – it’s an option that’s been on the top model, the Striebig 4D, for a while – but in a move that will be welcomed by many existing Striebig customers, the company showed the prototype of its first retro-fittable optimisation system at Holz-Handwerk, which is expected to be available in the UK from autumn 2018.
“You can now have a panel optimisation program on any Striebig machine,” explains Sepp Furrer, Striebig’s International Sales Manager. “Regardless of the age or model of your Striebig saw, the new system can be fixed onto it. The clever system connects to your Wi-Fi, allowing the user to send panel sizes to the machine quickly and efficiently. The operator can then start to cut the correct panel sizes immediately. The big advantages to this new system are time saving, material saving and personal costs. You don’t need to spend time considering how best to cut the panel into smaller pieces without waste. The new system does it all for you.”
The retro-fittable option consists of a computer (equipped with the optimisation program) that sits on top of a label printer. By including a label printer, not only will it increase productivity and reduce waste, parts coming off the saw can be labelled, barcoded and printed with the necessary product information for fuss free handling.
The stand also showcased a new, fully integrated optimisation package for the Striebig Control. “This is a new option for the Control machine, and can be chosen by the customer,” adds Sepp. “The control unit is different to that on the existing Control saw and the display is bigger at 12 inches. Everything is integrated with the electronics of the machine. It moves the saw head, the saw beam and the electronic positioning system (EPS.x) automatically. You do not have to move anything by hand apart from loading the panel, simplifying the whole process. Because of the wealth of benefits users can expect from using our new optimisation options, we expect this new technology to be a very popular addition to the Striebig range.”
