Under this definition, a sensory room or area should incorporate as many different sights, sounds, colours and stimulation as possible. A multi-sensory 'room' need not take up a whole room; a corner or a small space can be utilised.
Sensory rooms are used for people with autism, and other developmental disabilities, dementia and brain injury.
