Dorchester based, Tritex NDT have developed a new range of triple echo ultrasonic thickness gauges in
accordance with the new British and European standards that govern the characterisation and verification
of ultrasonic thickness measuring equipment. The new standard, BS EN 15317:2007, came into force on
30 March 2007, and has been put in place to specify methods and acceptance criteria for assessing the
performance of instruments for measuring thickness using pulse-echo ultrasound.
Tritex NDT has two gauges in the range which comply, the Multigauge 5500 and Multigauge 5600. Both
gauges use the triple echo technique to completely ignore coatings, and in addition they have features
such as Coating Plus+ to ignore even thicker coatings up to 20mm, AMVS which stands for Automatic
Measurement Verification System and an intelligent probe recognition system to ensure the probe is
perfectly matched to the gauge.
In developing these gauges, Tritex have remained committed to respecting the environment by omitting
the use of hazardous substances and materials in all products by complying with the RoHS and WEEE
directives.
Typical applications include inspection of bridges, lighting columns, ships, piers, road tankers, pipelines,
storage tanks as well as general industry.
