New Espec Battery Testing Centre
27-02-2019
Espec have recently opened the world’s first Battery Safety Testing Centre in their Utsunomiya Technocomplex in Japan that meets UN/ECE-R100, Series 2, Part II (UN standard) on the safety of secondary batteries used in eco vehicles.
The rise of eco-friendly vehicles such as hybrids and electric vehicles is seeing growing demand for environmental tests of devices such as secondary batteries and power semiconductors. Demand is growing for external short-circuit tests, nail penetration tests and other safety tests to ensure the high reliability and stable performance needed by vehicle secondary batteries.
This significant investment will help further Espec’s development of new equipment to augment its range of world-renowned test chambers.
Espec have also entered into a partnership with TUV SUD Japan Ltd, at the new test centre, which will enable Espec to offer services include safety testing and application certification all onsite.
