What is injection moulding
Plastic injection is a type of moulding that is used predominantly to manufacture large quantities of an item, with high accuracy and consistency. Granules of the chosen material are heated until they melt and are then injected in to the mould for a product, once it has been left to cool the mould is split apart and the finished injection moulded product is left. Injection moulds are commonly used to create both simple and complex designs as measurements can be pin-pointed exactly on to a mould producing the perfect product each and every time.
What materials can be used?
There are a wide range of different thermoplastic that can be used effectively for custom injection moulding but the most common materials are Nylon, LDPE and UPVC. The material will often vary with the products usage as there is such a wide range of plastics to choose from. At Vital Parts we will work with you to make sure we choose the best material for you and your product, taking factors such as budget and product usage in to account when designing a custom injection mould.
HOW TO CREATE A CUSTOM INJECTION MOULD
At Vital Parts we supply and manufacture a vast range of different products and are able to provide custom injection moulding if it is required by a customer. We will work with you and your business to design your perfect product using CAD, this includes going over different types of materials that can be used to create the desired effect. Once we have the finished CAD file we will then create a rapid prototype for you.
After the prototype has been designed and created we can then send you a sample of the finished product to ensure that it is what you require and that there aren’t any further tweaks to be added. If the perfect prototype has been created for you and your product and are happy with it, then we can go about producing your product in whatever quantity you desire.
