WEISS expands its management team

For 45 years, the company was exclusively managed by its founding family. This changed last September, when Dr. Thomas Grünewald was appointed as the company's second Managing Director alongside Managing Partner Uwe Weiß. The mechanical engineer has many years of experience in international sales and the manufacturing of capital goods and most recently focused on machine tools and automation applications. Dr. Grünewald will in future be responsible for the Sales and Development departments at WEISS. Uwe Weiß, the company's Managing Partner, takes over Production and Administration. Both managers share a common understanding in all strategic matters and advocate a clearly defined growth strategy. The objectives for the coming years are therefore clear: "Developing new products, tapping into new markets and optimising internal processes," comments Dr. Grünewald on the future programme of WEISS. The organisational philosophy of the traditional family business, which has always emphasised short distances and flat hierarchies, remains intact: "We didn't want to lose the flexibility and effectiveness of a medium-sized company. That's also the reason why WEISS made a conscious decision to appoint a second Managing Director." Dr. Grünewald chose a rather unconventional way of settling into his new role: he spent four weeks at a workbench in Production. "I wanted to get to know the company from the inside out and not at a distance from the executive suite," explains the Odenwald-born manager. He continues: "It is really fascinating when you realise the secret to the success of this medium-sized German company: it's the people. Their amazing expertise, their commitment, their loyalty to the company. That really impressed me."
