Contact our well informed sales team. 440B is a high carbon chromium stainless steel combining stainless steel properties with excellent hardness after heat treatment. 440B can achieve a hardness of up to 58 Rockwell HRc. 440B has similar corrosion resistance properties to type 410 stainless, with optimum cossision resistance of 440B achieved with a temper below about 400?C. For 440B to achieve best corrosion resistance, surfaces must be free of scale, lubricants, foreign particles, and coatings applied for drawing and heading. Due to its high carbon content 440B annealed stainless machines similar to a high speed steel annealed grade A high carbon martensitic stainless with moderate corrosion resistance good strength and the ability to obtain and keep excellent hardness (Rc 58) and wear resistance.
