EN40B is a chromium molybdenum nitriding steel usually supplied in the hardened condition which offers high wear resistance together with good toughness / ductility. Characterised by its suitability for nitriding which can give the it a hard wear resistant case of 61-65Rc. The low temperature of the nitriding process produces components with a scale free surface and with minimum distortion during the heat treatment process. EN40B may be used for applications and components where a high tensile steel strength is required. The steel can be cut to required sizes.
