2021 Price Increases

A message from our Director Derek on the latest raw material increases and how Westmount is overcoming the challenges appearing by looking after all our customers and prospects with quality service which allows us to make sure your packaging procurement remains easy. What is it? Honest, reliability, trustworthiness and quality service? We wouldn't do it any other way. Read on... Hello, I hope that you are keeping safe and well. Firstly, I would like to say thank you for your continued support throughout 2020. It certainly was an extraordinary and challenging year, and though many of those challenges look set to continue through at least early 2021, Westmount is in a good position to face those challenges head-on. Our aim is to continue to deliver the level of quality and service you have come to expect from us. Late last year we sent an email explaining the recent impacts on the packaging industry, and we wanted to update you further on the current situation. There have been many challenges as a result of Corona Virus and Brexit. Our suppliers have experienced a shortage of raw materials to manufacture packaging materials. This has impacted cardboard and foam products in particular, but has been felt across all industries. There have been substantial delays in the movement of goods through the ports and increased transportation charges in Europe, in some cases transport costs have increased by over 500%. Not to mention the change in consumer buying habits, which has hugely increased the demand for cardboard cartons in particular. The effect has been immediate and substantial price rises across all packaging products, which we have absorbed as far as possible, but this will not be sustainable in the longer term. It is with regret that we will be increasing our prices by 9% on all orders delivered after 21st February 2021. I understand that price increases are never welcome, but I hope you understand our position and the reasons for this increase.
