Asbestos Removal: Know the Dangers
23-01-2018
As a widely used building material until the 1980s, Asbestos has many insulating properties but once worn and damaged it can become a huge potential health risk. Commonly used in roofing, flooring, textured paint and window frames, Asbestos is now considered incredibly dangerous. Exposure to its fibres can lead to chronic health conditions including lung cancer and mesothelioma.
The NEBOSH General Certificate provides a general overview of the health and safety risks that are posed by asbestos. This NEBOSH online course aims to make individuals aware of the danger and what needs to be done when faced with asbestos however with such a dangerous substance it is important to note that it should not be touched without in-depth training.
Whilst online courses such as the NEBOSH general certificate and the IOSH Working Safely teach you all about hazardous materials, it is still advised that professionally trained individuals are the only ones that remove it. Removing fibres on your own can worsen the damage that it will cause.
To find out more about asbestos disposal and the removal process, AWARE, a leading asbestos disposal company have created an infographic.
