Clare HAL102 Electrical Safety Tester - AC/DC Hipot and DC Insulation Tester

The Clare HAL102 Hipot tester extends on the versatility of the HAL101. The HAL102 electrical safety tester includes an in-built 5-channel scanner, featuring additional pairs of output test terminals. This makes it possible to conduct multi-point testing either on the same product, or across a group of products without the need for physical intervention.

This is a powerful means allowing for quick, successive testing of electrical and electronic equipment. Other tests including 50/60Hz AC and DC dielectric strength, DC insulation resistance testing and ARC detection are also available for complete product safety testing.

The Clare HAL102 is designed for use within strict quality controlled environments (production line testing), but it is also suitable for laboratory use. Similar to the other HAL products within the series, the intuitive user interface is presented upon a large LCD screen, whilst operation can be conducted in many different ways depending on the test application at hand:

• Quick and simple manual testing can be achieved by using the test buttons on the facia of the HAL102
• Production line testing is possible by programming test sequences into the safety tester
• Test sequences can be printed in a barcode format using a ‘Desk Test n Tag’ printer and scanned using a barcode scanner for rapid testing (both optional accessories)
• The Clare HAL102 can be programmed using a simple command protocol program (free download) called the ‘Clare Tester Config Tool’, allowing for remote operation
• The safety tester can also be integrated into a programmable logic controller (PLC) circuit, allowing for safe start/stop testing 

With the use of Clare Safety E-base software, the Clare HAL102 will easily merge into most ISO quality systems. With traceability being at the forefront of any manufacturing process, the Clare HAL102 can store up to 6000 test results internally which can be downloaded at a later date.

EN50191 and CE Implications

EN 50191 is a workplace safety standard that complements the product specific international technical CE standards under which all electrical and electronics products must be designed and manufactured.

These technical standards relate to various electrical safety and performance factors ensuring electrical products are constructed in accordance with good engineering practice and will not pose a danger to users. Products must adhere to the requirements of all relevant product safety standards, if they are to meet the requirements to bear the CE mark.

Examples include the Low Voltage and the Machinery Directive. The Clare HAL series are designed to help manufacturers fulfil these obligations, whilst maximising productivity. Clare testers have applications in the laboratory for design verification and type approval testing and on the production line for functional and safety testing, as well as quality control and audit.
