With a temperature measurement range of -10?C to 120?C, thermal sensitivity of <50mK and thermal resolution of 80 x 60 pixels, the Cordex MN4000 Intrinsically Safe Panel Mounted Thermal Imager is the ideal instrument for remotely monitoring electrical equipment. Measurements are accurate to ±2?C or 2% and the field of view stretches over 63? diagonally so the imager provides truly comprehensive continuous monitoring of an electrical installation.

Aside from impressive thermographic capabilities, the Cordex MN4000 also has a 640 x 480 pixel digital camera so the user can check visible images to complement the thermal heat map. An LED torch illuminates the target so detail is always clear.

The Cordex MN4000’s ability to communicate through Modbus over Ethernet means that it carries a significant safety advantage over traditional IR windows. The thermographer can now conduct inspections from the comfort of the office via this remote monitoring, completely safe from the risk of arc flash. The image is automatically updated every second and PLC function blocks can be used to send warnings when a potential problem is detected so there is no compromise on the comprehensiveness of inspections. It is even possible to code set responses to certain observations in order to react instantly no matter when an issue arises.

Installation of the Cordex MN4000 is very simple and it is possible to retrofit the imager into a Cordex IW 4000 mounting pattern using just three screws. The camera package can then be removed and reinstalled without shutting down the equipment whilst the panel remains in place. The imager is approved for use in ATEX environments and constitutes an extremely useful and advanced alternative to monitoring electrical equipment via IR windows.
