The Fluke 1664FC Multifunction Tester can be used to test electrical systems quickly and safely. It can take readings for True RMS AC voltage, insulation resistance, loop and line impedance (ZI), prospective earth fault current, RCD tripping speed, earth resistance, and RCD/FI tripping current. Other tests include continuity testing, RCD testing, and ramp testing whilst phase sequence indication constitutes another useful feature of the instrument. All measurement and testing is carried out to a high standard of accuracy over impressive ranges and the user also benefits from auto-testing for line/loop impedance, RCD trigger test, and insulation tests. Auto-testing requires the user to set just one connection and push one button, thus saving time.

Other time-saving features include Z-max memory for loop tests and a zero adapter for lead and cord compensation. Moreover, there is no need to switch connections in order to measure voltages between a variety of different points and the user interface is incredibly simple with straighforward dial operation no confusing menus. In addition, the Fluke 1664FC boasts unique ‘Insulation PreTest’ which prevents testing and therefore any subsequent damage when it detects appliances connected to the object system. This combines with Earth Volt Touchpad, which highlights raised earth voltages, to create a very safe instrument with a Cat III 500V overvoltage categorisation. It is therefore an accurate, safe, and speedy tester. Most usefully, the Fluke 1664FC's auto-test sequence performs five tests and thereby ensures that installations meet local regulations.

The Fluke 1664FC benefits from Fluke Connect technology. After the Fluke Connect app is downloaded from the App Store or Google Play, this allows results to be sent to a smartphone to then be forwarded on to fellow team members and uploaded to the FlukeCloud database from where they can be accessed via internet connection from anywhere in the world. Information is also shown on the clear LCD screen.
