The Fluke VT04A Visual IR Thermometer is an innovative combination of a non-contact infrared thermometer (-10?C to +250?C) and a thermal camera which displays an exact surface temperature value alongside a digital image overlaid with a thermal heat map. This combination - which can be blended according to the user’s needs - prevents blind guessing when searching for potential fault indication and also means that electrical circuits, HVAC systems, industrial machinery and automotive systems can be quickly checked before zeroing in to take precise temperature readings for diagnosing the potential fault.

Two modes - NEAR and FAR - allow the Fluke VT04A to correctly align the heat map and digital image so that faults are correctly located. Hot and cold points indicate the highest and lowest temperatures in the wide 28? x 28? field of view and the exact measurement point for the given value is indicated by a box on screen. Alarms can be set to instantly warn the operator if temperatures fall outside adjustable limits whilst time-lapse and auto-monitor modes can measure changes in heat patterns over a long period of time without the user being present. A tripod connection on the bottom of the device is designed for exactly this purpose.

Up to 9,999 images (.bmp and .is2) and readings can be saved to the provided micro-SD card before transfer to a computer. Files can be edited and reports produced with Fluke SmartView software which is available for free from Fluke’s website. The Fluke VT04A has a light, ergonomic shape and is powered by 4 AA batteries. The simple operation makes it suitable even for a novice user and everything is supplied in a handy soft carry case.
