The Sofamel PATL-MPLB Earthing and Short-Circuit Kit is part of Sofamel’s range of kits designed for work on medium-voltage overhead power cables and helps avoid problems related to accidental commissioning and voltage return during maintenance and repair. It contains a range of essential components, all conforming to IEC 61230.

There are three clamps in the Sofamel PATL-MPLB Kit which can all be fixed onto naked conductors using a simple screw tightening mechanism. The two MPL clamps have a maximum clamping diameter of 45mm whilst the separate MPLP carrier clamp has a securing screw, again with a maximum diameter of 45mm.

Three copper cables allow the circuit to be shorted out. Two are 2.5m in length and the other is 15m in length but all three have a cross-sectional area of 70mm2, thus allowing a maximum current of 19kA/1s. All cables have PVC insulation and the Sofamel PATL-MPLB Kit also has a TT-50 milling earthing lathe.

An earth spike rod is included as standard alongside a 2m telescopic pole which facilitates connection in hard-to-reach places. Finally there is a plastic storage case and a bag for the pole and earth rod.
