The Testo 865 Thermal Imaging Camera is an ideal entry-level thermal camera because of its combination of point-and-click simplicity and high-performance thermography and thermal video. The 160 x 120 pixel thermal sensor measures temperature from -20?C to 280?C through non-contact infrared detection and has thermal sensitivity of 120mK so differences of just 0.12?C are visible on screen. These thermographic capabilities make the camera suitable for detecting leaks, overheating components, thermal bridges and structural defects whilst the wide field of view (31? x 23?) allows speedy inspections across buildings and production plants.

Thermal images are displayed on the Testo 865’s vibrant colour screen which has a choice of four colour palettes and automatic cold/hot spot recognition. The camera can also calculate the mean point and can be upgraded with optional Testo SuperResolution software which artificially boosts resolution to 320 x 240 pixels to produce a really detailed thermal image. Automatic ScaleAssist sets an appropriate colour-to-temperature scale and an IFOV warning aids accuracy. The emissivity level can be set manually from 0.01 to 1 in order to compensate for absorbent or reflective surfaces. This all means that the 865 offers an accurate, usable thermal image.

A large 2.8GB internal memory can store thousands of images and these can be transferred to a PC via the supplied USB cable. With an IP54 ingress protection rating, the Testo 865 is unsuitable for use outdoors and is well-built in order to withstand the rigours of daily use. The four-hour life on the rechargeable battery is another useful feature when it comes to practical use. The camera is supplied with a USB cable, charging unit, calibration protocol and case as well as a two-year warranty.
