Alpha Publishing, established a quarter of a century ago, initially produced specialised product card packs tailored to various industries. These packs were distributed at more than 50 major trade shows across the United Kingdom.
In June 2004, Findtheneedle was introduced by Alpha Publishing, seizing the opportune moment to bring its extensive database of specialised industry contacts onto the online platform. The name was inspired by the saying "looking for a needle in a haystack," offering a distinctive yet memorable touch.
Since its inception, Findtheneedle has experienced rapid growth, solidifying its position as one of the largest and most frequently visited business-to-business directories in the UK. Over 125,000 companies have subscribed to findtheneedle.co.uk since 2004. The team has expanded from its original five members based in Hertfordshire to a workforce of more than 50 individuals. The company now operates from offices in Hertfordshire, Essex, Norfolk, and Suffolk, and has even established an international presence with several overseas employees.
Distinguishing itself as an innovator rather than a mere follower, Findtheneedle has introduced many features that have been subsequently adopted by online trade directories worldwide.
The 2023 version of the site represents the latest iteration, featuring new on-screen editing capabilities and enhanced functionalities. Importantly, we want to emphasise that we will not be levying additional charges for these enhancements.
