Ashtead Technology invests in NDT fleet
25-09-2013
Ashtead Technology has selected a range of Proceq non-destructive testing (NDT) instruments for inclusion in its rental fleet. The well-established Schmidt Hammer and Equotip 2 Hardness Tester have been popular products at Ashtead Technology for many years, but the addition of three further Proceq instruments means that customers now have access to a comprehensive selection of the latest technologies for the assessment of concrete and metal in the field.
As a result of this initiative, Ashtead Technology is now an approved rental supplier of Proceq equipment, and Stewart Curtis says: “Our engineers have been fully trained by Proceq, so customers can expect the normal high level of technical support with these brand new products.”
The three new additions to the rental fleet include:
1.The Proceq Profoscope is a rebar detector that can measure concrete cover and rebar diameter, whilst also checking for minimum cover. The instrument has a unique real-time rebar visualisation capability, enabling users to actually ‘see’ the location of the rebar beneath the concrete surface to a depth of 180 mm. This is coupled with rebar-proximity indicators and optical and acoustic locating aids. Further applications include corrosion studies and rebar grid examination for planned load changes.
2.The Proceq PunditLab+ is an ultrasonic pulse velocity test instrument which is used to examine the quality of concrete in the lab or insitu. It features waveform analysis and full remote control of all transmission parameters. Along with the traditional transit time and pulse velocity measurement, PunditLab+ also measures path length, perpendicular crack depth and surface velocity. Measurements are stored internally and conversion curves can be created in the software and uploaded to the instrument to give instant estimation of compressive strength on site.
3.The Proceq Equotip 3 is a portable metal hardness tester with a large bright display and internal memory with download capability. Recorded data converts to all common hardness scales (HV, HB, HRC, HRB, HS, Rm). Suitable for testing a wide variety of metals and alloys, this instrument is ideal for production level testing, material selection, quality control and acceptance tests in metal production and processing activities.
