Find The Needle Add My Company
It’s a whopper at iPac!

We are proud to have worked on another fantastic Voltage Optimisation installation project. This time with iPac Packaging Innovations in Gateshead, near Newcastle

This is the latest in a series of energy saving commissions that we are carrying out across the country for businesses looking for a capex solution.

We had three of our engineers on site installing a large 800i model for iPac. It’s the largest unit we have installed to date and we have no doubt that this is going to make a huge impact in optimising the plant’s energy output.

We originally looked at the site almost a year ago and we have found since then that the power requirements on-site have grown considerably, by around 30% in fact, which made it very apparent that sizeable Voltage Optimisation equipment would be needed to cope with this increased demand. Our first thought was to install the 800i as not only would it cover their current requirements, but it will support their expected growth for the next few years.

iPac is a company which already has a high profile for renewable measures and it has made a number of key changes to its operations to ensure that carbon emissions are reduced, so we were pleased to have the opportunity to help them continue this stance by assisting with the Voltage Optimisation.

This latest project has been an excellent one to work on and our team have found the process seamless; it’s a modern facility used for Thermoforming. Our engineers have enjoyed experiencing the plant and understanding its production.

The only requirement from iPac was to ensure no major disruption to power during the process, and this did take some scheduling due to the factory running on continuous shifts, but of course we found a solution. Power was disconnected at 11.00pm on a Friday night so the Voltage Optimiser could be connected before the production run began again late Sunday evening.

The new Voltage Optimiser will help iPac to further reduce its CO2 emissions by a whopping 17,898 Kgs per annum. It will also help increase the lifespan of capital equipment on site by as much as 50% due to the correct voltage now in place.

Steven Cullum, our Managing Director, said

“The iPac installation has been a rewarding project to work on and we were delighted when iPac contacted us to help with their ongoing sustainability measures. Our engineers have worked tirelessly on site to ensure that going forwards iPac benefits from the correct voltage. The plant’s energy consumption is now reduced by 5.38% as a result of bringing in the new Voltage Optimiser.

We have also given the client remote monitoring software, for additional support, which will provide easy access to savings data in real time from any PC, tablet or smartphone. Just one of the measures we have in place as part of our customer care programme.”

Jean-Louis Gravier, Operations Director of iPac said

“The installation process went very smoothly, and we are seeing the benefits of the install already. We are pleased we decided on the larger VO to allow for expansion and look forward to seeing the savings both in energy and CO2 emissions”
