Cranage EMC and Safety Summer Newsletter
21-07-2021
We're pleased to publish our Summer newsletter, and we start with a people update.
As most of our followers and customers know, we are
a family run business and we have had lots of family
celebrations recently. Our Founders and Directors,
Keith and Pauline Richens, have both celebrated their
birthdays in June. They set up Cranage EMC and
Safety in 1992, so we are getting ready to celebrate our
30th birthday next year - what a great achievement
from a business that started in a garage in Lancashire!
We are going to be digging into our archives to find
some fun and interesting photos to share our journey
over the last 3 decades.
We are also celebrating the achievements of our
Facilities Engineer, Ian, who climbed Ben Nevis to
raise money for Leukemia Care. Keeping with the
family theme, Ian did this with his daughter - well
done to them both!
Business Update
June 9th was National Accreditation Day and
anyone who follows our Linkedin page will know
that we are extremely proud of our UKAS
Accreditation, so you will often see us mention this
in our newsletter. We're pleased to confirm that we
are now UKAS accredited for the standard IEC/EN
61010-2-051. This group of standards relates to the
safety requirements for electrical equipment for
measurement, control and laboratory use, and part
2:051 is the particular requirement for laboratory
equipment for mixing and stirring. We now have
over 18 pages of standards and updates on our
UKAS scope, so we are able to offer our customers a
comprehensive range of accredited testing across
EMC, electrical safety, mechanical, energy-related
and environmental performance.
Manufacturers can use the easy search function at www.ukas.com to
check whether we are UKAS accredited for the
standards you need, or alternatively contact our
team who will be able to advise.
At Cranage EMC & Safety, we are pleased to
confirm we have a valid EORI number and are
therefore able to provide our full range of testing,
inspection and certification services to businesses
in Northern Ireland. As an operator within
international economics and supply chains,
Cranage is registered for customs clearance
purposes specifically for NI, to move physical goods
to Great Britain for testing in our UKAS accredited laboratory.
Finally, did you know that because of continued growth we are recruiting? We are looking for a qualified engineer or technician to
join our product safety assessment team with
experience and knowledge of the technical
standards used for testing and certification. We are
also looking for someone who might have a basic
technology or science qualification, who is
interested in developing a long term career and is
considering the benefits of an apprenticeship. If
you know of anyone suitable for either job, Product
Safety Assessor or Apprentice Technician, please
ask them to visit our careers page for more details
