No more disruption to production!
Maintaining a balance between production and maintenance poses challenges, particularly in hazardous environments. We are excited to introduce the latest addition to Cygnus’ diverse UT range: the new Cygnus High-Temperature Ex Probe. This accessory expands the capabilities of the Cygnus 1 Ex Ultrasonic Thickness Gauge, offering versatile solutions for various applications.
Similar to the Ex gauge, the Cygnus High-Temperature Ex Probe is certified for use in all hazardous areas: Zone 0, 1, and 2. Paired with the Ex gauge, this equipment enables the measurement of wall thickness, corrosion, or erosion of hot assets in-service across industries such as oil and gas, refining, energy, and processing sectors.
On-stream inspection (OSI)
Developed in collaboration with Ionix® Advanced Technologies, this twin-element, 5.0 MHz ultrasonic probe accurately measures the remaining wall thickness range from 2.5mm to 50mm, depending on the temperature and material. It boasts excellent wear resistance, allowing for continuous contact time on hot surfaces up to 300°C without the need for plant shutdown or isolation.
The best part?
No cooling period is required! This significantly reduces inspection time, eliminating the need for breaks in the testing schedule, thereby facilitating more effective measurement and efficient testing operation.
Where can it be used?
The ATEX, IECEx, and UKEX certificates allow the equipment to operate in Zone 0, 1, and 2 explosive atmospheres, also known as hazardous areas. These locations pose risks of fire or explosion due to the presence of ignitable or flammable substances in the air, such as gases and vapours. These areas, including but not limited to chemical plants, power plants, petrochemical refineries, processing plants, and oil and gas refineries, often contain multiple hot assets that require regular inspection.
For enhanced protection and durability, a special probe cable wrapped in a glass-fibre outer braid has been designed for use with the High-Temperature Ex Probe. The probe and probe cable are sold separately to enable lower replacement costs.
