We are happy to announce that we have been awarded the 'Special Mention Partnership' for our project at Lots Road Power Station, London.
Built in 1902, Lots Road Power Station was once London's largest power station, supplying the London Underground. As part of a huge waterfront refurbishment plan, it has been transformed into a modern residential and commercial building. The listed facades and chimneys have been restored whilst the existing building structure has been kept to reduce the consumption of resources and make this project a model of sustainable development.
The biggest challenge was the installation of over 240 CDP-Twin chain drives, mounted on custom-made steel frames. The window sections, each 15 metres long and equipped with eight ventilation openings, were extensively tested before installation and delivered as complete sections, which significantly reduced the installation effort on site. The careful planning and technical sophistication of the D+H solutions are crucial to the success of the redesign of the Lots Road Power Station. They ensure both functionality and safety, as well as the preservation of the historic ambience.
