About Us

David Salisbury has been designing, manufacturing and installing award-winning orangeries, conservatories and garden rooms for over 35 years. From our hi-tech manufacturing site in Somerset, we have been fortunate enough to work on some of the UK’s most prestigious residential properties, all around the country. One of the many consequences of the pandemic has been a renewed focus on our homes. As we have spent more time at home, it has made us realise the importance of our house and garden space and how we use it. The trend for open plan living has been around for some time now but these multi-functional spaces have been even more relevant this year. Being able to join a kitchen extension to a living and dining space allows us to be preparing a meal in the kitchen whilst supervising homework, for example. In addition to this trend, this year in particular, has been a requirement for home office space, which has often put pressure on the existing layout of our homes. Rather than move home for more space, our customers having been extending their existing properties by adding a luxurious orangery. Our orangeries are designed for year round living and, critically, add significant value, as well as space, to your home. Our design briefs range from a customer wanting to add an orangery kitchen extension, which is perhaps our most common request, to something even more bespoke, such as designing a swimming pool enclosure. We are also seeing increasing demand for stand-alone annexe buildings. These are freestanding buildings, with a touch of luxury, that can act as a home or garden office, whilst providing additional accommodation in a separate structure. Importantly, these extensions share a common theme: linking our house to our garden. The use of bi-fold doors which, when fully retracted, create a sense of indoor/outdoor living, is a trend that continues to grow – especially so, as this easily allows socially distanced entertaining. As these structures are usually single storey rear extensions, they can often be built with Permitted Development (PD) to help ease the planning process. This year, the concept of ‘home, sweet home’ has never been more important. Our discerning customers want to maximise their use of space and enjoyment of their home and garden – our orangeries are designed to do this and much more.
