Oxidised Low Density Lipoprotein (LDL) is an atherogenic, plaque-specific protein directly involved in the initiation and the progression of atherosclerotic lesions. Plasma levels of oxidised LDL are markedly elevated in patients with angiographically proven coronary artery disease and it is now becoming clear that circulating levels of oxidised LDL are markers of coronary atherosclerosis.
