Don’t forget Mother’s Day
12-03-2021
This Sunday in the UK some would say is the most important day of the year. It’s the day we celebrate and honour our lovely mothers. In the modern day we all spoil our mums with meals, gifts and flowers. So much in fact that Mother’s Day is normally the busiest day for restaurants and the third busiest day for flowers in the year.
Mothers day 1Mother’s Day originates in many countries for different reasons. The US particularly stood out to me. During and following the Civil war, a Women named Ann Jarvis made a concerted effort to foster friendship and community between the mothers on both sides of the war. She started a committee in 1868 which established the first glimmer of today’s holiday: “Mother’s Friendship Day.” The legacy continued until 1914 when Woodrow Wilson signed Mother’s day into law.
Although all we see is gifts, celebrations and flowers. An interesting fact appears behind the scenes and this is that more calls are made on mother’s day than any other day of the year. It’s a fact that I hadn’t really thought about although makes perfect sense now. Many families spread out across the country and getting back for Mother’s day isn’t always easy. I think we all know this year will see a new record as unfortunately we are still in a lockdown so make sure you give your Mums a call.
So how do I link Mother’s Day to EWFM a company that sells engineered products worldwide. Well much like Mother’s Day on previous years, our sales team at EWFM were used to travelling far and wide to visit our lovely customers. However EWFM this year are set to make a record too like Mother’s Day calls and that’s the number of Zoom/Teams calls we’ve made.
Like you who aren’t living with your Mums this year, we’ve had to adapt to these difficult times to make more calls then ever. Looking after our customers from afar has made challenging times but EWFM have stepped up to the challenge, invested in the latest technology, to ensure we are always a stone throw away.
I hope everyone can make the very most of Mother’s Day on Sunday and hopefully next year you can be face to face with your Mums and we can be with our customers again.
