Project World Cup - Brazil
05-12-2022
Project World Cup - Brazil The World Cup is underway, and what can we say, it’s already been packed full of surprises, convincing victories by higher-ranked nations, and matches about which we should say as little as possible. One of the more contentious world cups in recent memory is being held in the Middle Eastern country of Qatar. To coincide with the World Cup, we thought it would be a great way to show our customers where, around the world, EWFM products are and what projects we have done. We will be choosing a nation that is playing on that day and diving into some projects that we have done with them in the past. To start off the Project World Cup, we have Brazil. Brazil: Brazil, located on South America’s eastern coast, is the largest country on the continent. It has a population of approximately 217,240,060 million people. Famously it is known for its sandy beaches, stunning rainforests, and diverse cities. However, to football fans, it is known as the “country of football.” For years, they have been littered with world-class talent such as Pele, Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, and Roberto Carlos, and in this current crop of Brazilians, you have the likes of Neymar. Brazil are heading into the current World Cup as favourites to go the whole way and win the trophy. Projects in Brazil: EWFM provides a specialist range of engineering expertise, products, and services to the offshore oil and gas industry. In 2010, we were approached by the companies Oil States and Petrobras. They required a subsea swivel joint for a pipeline off the coast of Brazil. In the end, EWFM ended up supplying two 10″ subsea swivel joints. Subsea swivels are used in many of the world’s most challenging environments when laying subsea flexible oil and gas pipelines. In the first image, you can see the deployment of our subsea swivel joint. This was into the sea off the coast of Brazil. The second image is of the subsea swivel lying on the seabed. EWFM subsea swivel joints can be manufactured in sizes ranging from 2″ all the way up to 12″ with the ability for carbon steel, stainless steel, or duplex steel construction. Due to it being used in subsea conditions, the pressures that this type of swivel can withstand need to be higher. That is why ours can withstand pressures of up to 1379 Bar G. We hope you enjoyed the first instalment of Project World Cup. Come back next week as we look into EWFM projects in Canada. If you are currently working on a subsea project that requires swivels, then please contact us for further information.
