Record number of panels pass rigorous quality checks

2015 has started strongly for Gilcrest Manufacturing with 98% of panels manufactured this year passing rigorous internal quality checks and hence achieving the lowest recorded QC rejection level of all times. This journey began over 12 months ago, when a cultural change was taken in the approach to internal rejects by new Factory Manager, Nigel Dilling and Project Engineering Manager, Stephen Griffiths. A positive approach was implemented with a long term strategy to monitor every error and identify root causes of reject. Throughout the year as issues were identified and addressed through training, awareness and communication via formal procedures and care points, the rejection rate reduced quarter on quarter, dropping from the average of 5% to 2% by 2015 whilst maintaining 100% quality on delivered product. Panel processing has been completed in a more customer focused manner with a better understanding of each customer’s specific requirements. In acknowledgement of the production team’s effort to achieve the continuous improvement and drive for improved quality, the management have put in place a Quality Performance Scheme where the team can share in the success they are helping to achieve.
