Electrofusion Jointing
The Electrofusion jointing system has been around since the 1970’s and is the tried and tested jointing system for the Gas and Water Utilities installing Polyethylene pipes.
As per the Ground Source Heat Pump Associations Shallow Ground Source Standards all underground connections for Polyethylene pipes (PE100 and PE100-RC) should be welded joints. This means Electrofusion is the obvious joint of choice in Ground Source.
Whilst the jointing process is simple, there are basic important steps that must be followed.
Equally important is having the correct tools
The must have tools are:
Suitable Pipe Cutter
Suitable Pipe Scraper
Welding Wipes
Restraining Clamp
If you do not have these basic tools manufacturers of Electrofusion fittings, question the ability to make a satisfactory Electrofusion joint.
Please take time to have a look at the document below which gives a step by step guide to the jointing process and explanation on the ancillary tools you will need.
These tools are available from Go Geothermal.
