Cotswold Stone Quarries was established by Julian Palmer over 3 decades ago. Julian has over 45 years experience in the Cotswold stone quarrying industry and has built a reputation for supplying local authorities, builders, architects and private clients with quality, natural stone products. The company has been involved in many notable projects, including Windsor Castle, Truro Cathedral and various Oxford colleges. Our Cotswold building stone and roofing slates have been exported to the United States, Japan and Belgium.
Julian Palmer originally opened the masonry shed at Guiting Power in 2002 where he set up a cutting and shaping operation employing a dozen stone masons. Blockstone was transported to Guiting Power from Julian’s Syreford Quarry which he bought in 2000. Operations under Cotswold Stone Quarries Ltd continued until 2005 until it was sold.
In October 2017 Julian Palmer reopened the Masonry Shed at Guiting Power fully equipped with a new saw and splitting machine as he recognized an increased need for high quality stone products.
