FAST FERRY NEW BUILDS

Specification, Plan Approval, Supervision and Project Management Houlder's Marine Design Consultancy business worked with a US shipyard to deliver a fleet of fast catamarans to service New York harbour. Initially, the team worked on the new build specification and contract, plan approval, supervision and project management of two 42m catamarans. The design provided three heated decks, seamless boarding and disembarkation at midship and bow, three restrooms and a full bar service - all at an operating speed of 38 knots. Following the success of the first two vessels SeaStreak New York and SeaStreak New Jersey, Houlder were tasked with working on two sister ships. For these second vessels, the team worked with the shipyard to update specifications and incorporate changes suggested by the client's operating experience. All four vessels continue to provide daily year-round ferry services to points in Manhattan from Central New Jersey. Houlder's marine design team provide technical support as required.
