Across the UK, fly tipping is on the increase - in Brighton alone there were over 2,000 recorded incidents during 2006-07, costing the tax payers over £87,000 to clean up. On average, offenders dump rubbish every 4.5 hours, yet less than 1% are ever prosecuted ...now however local authorities are fighting back with the new generation of covert CCTV cameras to capture pictures of offenders in the act. Like graffiti and vandalism, Fly Tipping reduces the quality of the environment and it is recognised by Central Government as a serious issue.
