Stunning! – that’s the word to describe this brilliant black box, dual camera, taxi cam - video recording system from Insight Se High Quality H.264 Taxi Cam Video Driver Protection System for £219.50! Stunning! – that’s the word to describe this brilliant black box, dual camera, taxi cam - video recording system from Insight Security …and at the current special offer price of just £219.50 ex vat, it’s an absolute steal! Professional drivers, including private hire car and taxi drivers, have long been looking for an “in-vehicle” image recording system, as an aid to personal protection and also to help settle disputes in the event of an incident. Fare dodgers and potentially abusive passengers will think twice before kicking-off, if they know that they are being recorded. ..and bad drivers or thoughtless pedestrians causing an accident through careless or aggressive actions, won’t have a leg to stand on (no pun intended!), if you’ve got video evidence …because it won’t just be your word against theirs as to who’s to blame. The problem to date has been that while there have been a couple of very good systems on the market, at £700 or more, the price has been more than many drivers have been able to afford …but the new Insight Black Box - dual camera Taxi Cam system, offers stunning performance at an easily affordable price. So what is it? And what does it do? It’s a discreet, stand-alone, two camera video and audio recording system. The external view camera records the drivers view, i.e. what’s happening on the road in front of the car, …the second camera records audio and video images of what’s happening in the cab, i.e. what your passengers are up to and this camera is equipped with invisible Infra Red lighting to ensure you can record even when its dark and there are no lights on in the cab. The tiny video recorder which incorporates the two cameras (mounted back to back), clips on to a windscreen mounted bracket and is powered (12/24v) from the cigarette lighter socket, making it dead easy to fit as there’s no complicated wiring to worry about. Using the latest superior H.264 recording technology, images from the two high quality 1.3 mega pixel digital colour cameras are recorded onto an SD type Memory Card which simply slots into the side of the recorder. You can set the unit to record continuously (and choose to record from just one or both cameras), or record on an “Event”. If Event recording is selected, the recording is triggered by a collision, sharp braking, etc. as detected by the built in "G-Shock" Sensors. Event recordings automatically store images from 15 seconds before the event / incident to 15 seconds after. If you need to view the recordings, simply slip the SD Card out of its slot in the video recorder and plug it into your PC. When you play back your recordings, you'll be able to watch the recordings from both cameras and listen to the audio. Because the system features a built in "GPS module", it knows exactly where you were when the recording was made, so when you play back, you can even link the recordings to "Google Maps" and watch the location pin move around the map in time with your image playback. Everything you need for recording or playing back images is included in the kit (apart from the PC!), including the playback viewer software …and playing back your recordings is also really simple. The system is supplied with a 2gb SD Card as standard (stores approx 2 hours audio & video recording from 2 cameras), but will accept up to a 32gb SD Card which allows well over 30 hours of continuous recordings from both cameras.
