JAS Green Team Wins Awards

John Anthony Signs is one of the premier sign makers in the UK and our vision is not just to be carbon neutral but carbon positive in the next two years. To meet this goal, we have highlighted areas within the business that we need to improve. We are also pleased to say this has been recognised by the British Sign Association as the ‘Greenest’ Sign Company in the UK along with our Green Achiever recognition. Our first step was to create the ‘JAS Green Team’ which includes personnel from around the business, meetings are held monthly to plan, review and implement the changes. We have also brought onboard a sustainability specialist to guide and help the JAS Green Team as we push forward on our carbon positive mission. Our sister company, Etesian Technologies specialises in renewable energy through wind and solar which has helped us develop plans for our factory signage to be powered using turbines and solar. This is a big focus point for JAS in 2021, we believe renewable energy is the key to making a real difference in the world and we are thrilled to be able to develop and test this through Etesian. Hybrid and electric cars are now part of the fleet and four car charging ports have been installed at the factory. Hybrid is the minimum for all future car purchases. For the manufacture of our signage, we use a vast amount of materials such as aluminium, stainless steel and acrylic. One key decision we have made is that all our acrylic sheet is now made from 100% recycled materials and we are working further still with our supply chain to help make additional improvements. Waste management in the offices and factory have been streamlined and waste collection is now fully traceable. Paper cups and paper towels are things of the past, photocopiers have been replaced with eco-friendly toners, and even the urinals have been adapted so are now 80% more efficient in water use. Along with all these positive steps forward, we have launched an initiative with Trees for Life to plant seedlings for every order received over £5,000. We are also sponsoring a hectare of land with the Hardknott Forest project, in the Lake District, where we plan to plant over 3,000 native tree species to increase biodiversity and carbon absorption. As a company, we are committed to excellence in terms of service, quality, experience and innovation. Taking responsibility for our environmental impacts is therefore of fundamental importance to us and to society as a whole. We truly believe that it is possible to do well by doing good. We have a collective responsibility to the health of the planet and the wellbeing of society now and into the future. Its time to make a difference.
