Nitrogen data flow survey

Customer Issue JWF were asked to help a large chemical manufacturer in Grangemouth understand the nitrogen usage throughout the site and adjoining customers for an upgrade project. Due to changing asset demands and a number of modifications made to the network across the site there was a need for further understanding regarding the distribution of the flow to help produce an accurate mass balance. JWF also helped with critical pressure measurements at various points on the site. Solution Our service engineers carried out a flow survey across 4 phases at the site, measuring nitrogen flows to various parts of Grangemouth. This was achieved using non-invasive flow meters with datalogging capabilities along with CPG1500 digital pressure gauges again with datalogging facilities. Outcome Our customer has developed a model of the overall sites nitrogen system, to allow an accurate representation of how the system behaves they required our temporary flow and pressure data. By utilising our data the improved model can help determine the design and available capacity for future upgrade projects.
