Our new Leadwell VMC

Today at Karmelle we got our new VMC machine from Leadwell. Needless to say we have some very excited engineers, after a long 18 month wait we finally have the first glimpse of our shiny new kit!

Getting It Inside

With such a tight fit there was some close calls, if you want to see them head over to our Facebook page to see the video @Karmelle. The boys were busy directing and pointing the, incredibly skilled, driver in the right direction. With a little correction, the VMC had arrived! What followed would be a mix of precision and confidence as the crane operator hauled our brand new piece of kit, over the shop floor and dropped it down just outside its soon to be new home.

Ben At The Wheel

With Ben behind the wheel it was time to take the VMC the final yards, a helping hand from the trusty forklift and bit of push and shuve, the job was done. Time to go grab a cuppa and marvel at the beast. but why go to all this effort just for one machine? Well, let’s find out.

Why The Big Deal?

Simply put, consistency. A VMC ( vertical machining center ) machine allows our operators to program the machine to manufacture parts with robotic precision and ensures consistency meaning we can make perfect copies of parts we need. Later down the line this is invaluable to the construction stage of our machines. If a part fits perfectly, then we can get our machines running and working more quickly and efficiently. So for us this is very good cause for excitement and for customers ensures the quality of our work. We design, manufacture and build all of a machinery right here in the UK. By using equipment like VMC machines we can carry on doing, what we do best.

Conclusion

Getting this machine in place and ready to go has been a long anticipated milestone for us here at Karmelle. It means that we can continue to provide the quality machines we pride ourselves on. Making sure that we can get it right, everytime. With a combination of increased speed and precision added with our 3 other VMC and CNC machines our fleet is complete! It is time to get stuck in!
