Kugel Motion, established in 2009, was founded with the goal of providing higher quality, cost-effective solutions for precision ball screw repairs and replacements. Since its inception, the company has grown sustainably, largely through word-of-mouth recommendations from satisfied machine tool and maintenance engineers. These professionals, particularly in larger manufacturing companies, have come to trust Kugel Motion for its commitment to quality and exceptional service.
In response to steady growth, Kugel Motion expanded into a new 2,500-square-foot facility, continuing to deliver the reliable and affordable ball screw repair services for which it is renowned. A significant milestone was reached in 2012 when the company invested in specialized machinery, becoming the only UK company capable of regrinding ball nuts and manufacturing high-quality ground ball nuts in-house. This capability allows Kugel Motion to offer ball screw repairs with performance levels comparable to new ball nuts, providing a cost-effective option for larger assemblies.
Further investment in 2014 enabled Kugel Motion to expand its in-house capabilities by acquiring external thread grinding machinery. This machinery was previously used in the production of miniature bespoke ball screw assemblies for Meggitt Aerospace & Defence. By May 2014, Kugel Motion became the only UK company able to manufacture both metric and imperial miniature precision ground ball screws entirely in-house.
In 2015, the company further strengthened its position by opening a dedicated ball screw thread grinding facility in Barnstaple, North Devon, historically known as the home of International Ballscrews Limited (IBL).
Despite its growth, Kugel Motion remains dedicated to providing personalized service to each customer. In addition to its ball screw repair services, the company boasts enhanced machining and manufacturing capabilities, producing new ball screw assemblies. Its advanced equipment, including 4&5-axis CNC milling machines, CNC turning, cylindrical grinding, and precision thread grinders, allows Kugel Motion to offer rapid replacement parts for maintenance needs, as well as bespoke prototype and miniature batch work for OEM customers.
