Case study - ST. DENIS, PARIS
14-02-2018
In September 09 we took care of a project in Paris on behalf of our client. This task took months of planning. The key requirements involved the installation of three generators to provide power for a high tech strategic Data Centre.
The three generator containers weighed in at 43 tonnes each, before the ancillary components were added, measured 14 metres long X 3.75 metres wide X 3.5 metres tall. The containers were fabricated in Belfast. We visited the manufacturing facility in Belfast to view the containers and components and put together a plan for the assembly operation in Paris. We then visited the Paris site to carry out a comprehensive survey and prepare a schedule for the off loading and assembly of the entire package to include transformers, containers, exhausts, radiators and penthouse boxes. A crane plan was then produced along with a detailed method statement and risk assessment for approval by our client and the main contractor in Paris. The plans were approved without a hitch. A specialist haulage contractor arranged the collection from Belfast and delivery to Paris of all components. We organised mobile cranes with a French supplier to attend the site, our own crew traveled to site with tackle vans loaded with equipment and the entire project was completed ahead of schedule.
