Grate-Fast Secured Walkway on Iconic Bridge

The Ben Franklin Bridge is a 2.9 km suspension bridge that spans the width of the Delaware River and connects New Jersey to Philadelphia. Engineers required a reliable method of attaching open bar grating platforms which were required in order to provide engineers with access to change the accent lighting across the entire length of the bridge. After evaluating several connection products, Lindapter’s Grate-Fast was specified due to its Lloyd’s Register Type Approval which rigorously tests for vibration and shock resistance and its cast malleable iron body that provides superior clamping force. The Grate-Fast allowed the open bar grating to be installed quickly and safely from above, helping the contractor to complete the project on time and on budget. The Grate-Fast range is available off-the-shelf, with each size fitting multiple depths of grating. It forms part of a larger group of high-strength steel floor connections that are designed and manufactured by Lindapter.
