MAHA's success on the book market
Versatility is the key
Knowledge is Power.
And to make this knowledge accessible to the largest possible group of people is valuable for social life. Together with the Krafthand Verlag Walter Schulz GmbH MAHA is bringing a book to the market which is a real asset for the entire industry: modern performance and emission test procedures – principles, technology, application.
Knowledge about the scope of modern performance and emission test procedures is often incomplete– and it is exactly this measurement technology which offers truly competent users real added value.
Contemporary performance and emission test procedures must be adapted in their complexity to the partial systems of modern vehicles. They must fulfill the demands of the automotive mechatronic in regard to operating comfort in daily workshop life as well as provide the engineer of a development department the wide scope of functions needed.
As market leader in the field of premium testing technology MAHA has solved this task in an exemplary fashion. For every imaginable application an individually adapted test stand can be complied from compatible single modules. In this way even smaller operations can have high-quality workshop equipment –when viewed in economic terms.
Qualified skilled personnel are aware of the enormous complexity of the matterit sets the highest standards for expertise and analytical skills. The electronic control and regulation systems of current test stand technology make use of highly specialized technology which delivers accurate and reproducable test results at all times.
With this book, the goal of MAHA, ABTSportsline and Florian Vierling, the author of >Modern performance and emission testing procedures < is to provide interested experts an overview about modern performance and emission test procedures. The focus is on practical, useful information and demonstrates important aspects of comtemporary motor vehicle testing technology.
The book will be published at the beginning of November and is available in bookstores. It is the first edition of a complete series which will present other interesting topics from the automotive industry.

Modern performance and emission test procedures
The topic of performance testing followed by the presentation of modern emission test procedures is, for the first time, dealt with in depth and scope never seen before and both topics have been deliberately coupled. For example, the meaningful measurement of a vehicles C0² emission only makes sense with a complete mapping of the rpm range. On the other hand a dynamometer and the appropriate operational infrastructure in conjunction with a modern emission test unit can be an extremely valuable diagnostic tool.
After a brief introduction author Florian Vierling describes the historical beginnings of dynamometers moving on to present a comprehensive overview of various design and variants as well as the physical background. As a follow-up Vierling concentrates on design and workshop technical general conditions. The actual performance test is described in the next chapter. Vierling thoroughly examines several topics including the interaction between rollers and vehicle tires, the proper fixing of the vehicle, the noise insulation, the issue revolving around Automatic or 4 wheel drive vehicle as well as possible differences between live and OBD data. The book is supplemented with application examples dealing with topics such as performance optimization (including an example from ABT-Sports line), optimization of emission behaviour or consumption. The book is rounded off by offering a view of what future challenges might hold.
